What is Arcoxia?
Arcoxia is a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug with a strong pain-relieving effect. It has Etoricoxib. This ingredient selectively blocks COX-2, a main factor that is responsible for the production of pain mediators, fever and inflammation.
The main advantage of Arcoxia is a very fast increase of the concentration in the blood plasma and a quick achievement of the pain-killing effect. A therapeutic effect is felt in 30 minutes after the use of a onetime dose of Arcoxia and is kept within 24 hours.
The use of the drug is accompanied by the reduction of the inflammation in joints, reduced redness, fever, and painful syndrome. Arcoxia restores a motion activity in people with complete or partial destruction of joints by means of the effective inhibition of pain during movement, especially in morning hours.
Unlike Diclofenac or other NSAIDS, Arcoxia may be used for a long time, and this drug irritates the mucous of the gastro-intestinal tract in a less degree and does not cause many side effects.
Who should take Arcoxia?
Arcoxia is prescribed patients for an expectant treatment of the degenerative and inflammatory diseases of the locomotor system: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis and arthritis.
The drug is ineffective as a baseline therapy of these diseases because it does not take part in the formation of the bone and cartilaginous tissues, but it provides a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect.
How to take Arcoxia?
The pills of Arcoxia are used orally after meals once per day. The optimal period for the use is morning, in 30-60 minutes after breakfast. If severe constrained movements are observed right after awakening, the pill may be used before meals with a glass of water.
A standard dose of Arcoxia is 60 mg per day. The dose is used during different inflammatory processes of organs of the locomotor system but in some cases higher doses may be required.
In case of an acute gouty arthritis, a daily dose of Arcoxia may be 120 mg per day. The use of the drug in the maximal dose is possible only 8 days. Then it is necessary to gradually reduce a daily dose up to 60 mg or 30 mg.
Arcoxia should be used for a short period but if inflammation and pain do not pass in 1-2 weeks, patients are prescribed a minimal dose of 30 mg for a longer period.
What are side effects?
The use of Arcoxia may be accompanied by the following side effects: dizziness, fatigue, sleepiness, diarrhea, or dyspepsia, high blood pressure, or rapid heartbeat. The side effects may grow during the increased daily dose, and therefore do not increase a dose of Arcoxia without serious indications.
- The use of a medical product of Arcoxia needs a careful control of the blood pressure, functions of liver and kidneys, and blood
- Do not take the drug with other NSAIDS
- The external coat of the Arcoxia pills contains lactose, and this should be taken into account, if the drug is prescribed patients with lactase deficiency or intolerance of lactose
- The drug is contraindicated during pregnancy.
